Bede’s Swimmers Selected To Swim For Sussex In County Championships

Five pupils from Bede’s have been selected to swim for Sussex at the 2017 British Inter-County Championships in Sheffield.

It is a remarkable achievement for Bede’s to provide five members of the county team of around 30 swimmers and reflects the strength of the swimming programme at Bede’s.

Tom Exall, James Grimmond, Harriet Farrington, Sam Avery and Dan Flint have all additionally qualified for the South East Regional Winter Championships in Portsmouth of the 4th-5th November.

Bede’s School has now had seven swimmers represent the County, with both Milly Widdop and Tom Barden swimming for the County at the same event last year.

The swimming programme at Bede’s has been developing every year; we have strong links with Hailsham Swimming Club who provide a wide range of training and competitive swimming opportunities for Bede’s pupils at the highest level.

The swimmers, who train up to five evenings and three mornings a week, have access to our unbeatable facilities which provides them with the best opportunity to improve and enhance their skills in the pool and the gym.

Head of Swimming, Craig Steenhoff said of their successes, “This is a remarkable achievement for both the swimmers and the School and reflects their commitment to training. I am incredibly proud of them all and have no doubt they will enjoy the experience of swimming for their County team.”
