Squash versus Sevenoaks School

Match report by Will Hemmings, Upper Fifth, Knights House

After a successful fixture against Eastbourne College, the team took to the road full of confidence. Unfortunately, it became clear early on that Sevenoaks were going to much stronger and experienced opponents, however the whole team put out a great performance.

Harry Carr gave monumental levels of effort in a real humdinger of a match but lost out narrowly 3-2. I lost my match 3-1, but felt that I showed some promising squash and improved throughout the match with each game very close.

The highlight of the afternoon came courtesy of our solitary victory from our number 1, Will Morris, who won 3-1 with his first away win for Bede’s.

The girls also bravely stepped on to the court, many experiencing their first competitive game of squash.

Despite none of them picking up a victory, a number of the games were close and they all said that Squash is a sport they will continue to play and believe they can win matches in the future

Overall then, the team is slowly gaining experience and confidence, and we are looking forward to another tough away fixture against Tonbridge

Tennis @ LTA National Schools Championships

Our U13 girls, Lizzie, Milly, Milly, Kirstin and Grace, represented Sussex in the LTA National Schools Championships.  They beat Surrey in the semi-finals in the morning but then sadly lost to Kent in the afternoon final.

It was a nail biting match which went to three matches, all requiring a shoot-out tie break to find a winner.  Bromley Academy managed to beat Bede’s 10-8 in the tie break; however, it was a major achievement for our girls.
