Bede's Skiers Compete In The Ski And Snowboard Championships

On Friday 14 December, a team of nine skiers departed Bede’s and headed for Les Deux Alpes to compete in the Independent Schools Ski and Snowboard Championships.

The ISSSC, which started in 2005, brings pupils together for a week of snow sports competition in Les Deux Alpes.

We spent the first few days skiing around the mountain and familiarising ourselves with the slopes, guided by our expert instructors. They helped us to prepare for the three days of competition, including the disciplines of the slalom, giant slalom and parallel slalom.

We spent three days competing with all our skiers performing brilliantly. Both our A and B teams won their parallel slalom.

Particular congratulations go to Sam Leonard and Josh Prosper who can 39th and 65th respectively in the giant slalom and 88th and 49th respectively in the slalom.

Andrea Fernandez Curic came 4th in the giant slalom and 11th in the slalom for her age category, an exceptional achievement.

Aside from the excitement of the races, we spent the evenings doing activities ranging from bowling, a quiz, a talk on the ski industry and the eagerly anticipated presentation ceremony. Thank you to our captain Toby Wiltshire and vice-captain Josh Prosper. Let’s hope we have another successful week next year under the leadership of Sam Leonard.
