Congratulations to the Bede’s U15 Girls Cricket team – National Champions of the Lady Taverners Cup 2019!

On Wednesday 22 May, the Bede’s U15 Girls Cricket team travelled from Upper Dicker to the hallowed Lord’s Cricket Ground for the National Finals of the Lady Taverners Cup. The girls represented the South, and competed against the Regional winning teams from the East, West, North and Midlands.

Bede’s played The Perse School in the first round; we batted first and scored 102-5, then bowled them out for 38, winning by 64 runs.

The second match was against Denmark Road High School.  Bede’s batted first and scored 103-4, the opposition were 27 all out. The third game was against Cheadle Hulme School. The Bede’s girls were once again accurate and sharp in the field, bowling the opposition out for 45. Bede’s chased down the total and went on to score 130-2.

The final game was against St Swithun’s School. Bede’s batted first and scored 103-5 and then bowled convincingly and fielded tightly to bowl St Swithun’s out for 70.

Bede’s won the tournament and are the U15 National Champions 2019!

The squad played superbly throughout the day; they bowled accurately, batted with positive intent, ran well, and fielded well. The girls’ fielding was excellent – they caught well, created numerous run outs owing to their speed, and showcased attacking play. A superb performance all round – well done all!
