Daisy Noton Thrilled to be Performing at Glyndebourne
Upper Fifth Bede’s pupil and seasoned flautist, Daisy Noton, has been selected to play at Glyndebourne’s Homelink Gala on Sunday 17 November 2019, which marks the organisation’s 20th anniversary.
Daisy, who has been part of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (NYO) for the past two years running, was selected to play at the prestigious event following an audition at Bede’s Senior School in April. Daisy says, “I’m very excited; to be able to play at Glyndebourne will be an amazing experience – it’s such an incredible venue – and I’m thrilled to be able to help such a great cause.”
Daisy will have a busy summer ahead, with a music tour to Berlin with the NYO in August, as well as a course with Trevor Wye at the Oxford Flute Summer School. Daisy will be returning to Bede’s for Sixth Form next academic year, when she will take part in high-profile auditions such as the NYO and BBC Young Musician as well as performances in school productions, including Bede’s flagship Cabaret gala event in December.
Robert Scamardella, Director of Music at Bede’s, comments, “Daisy plays the flute with genuine flair and grace, and I am constantly impressed by her dedication to music and talent. She has truly blossomed in her time with us, and is a real pleasure to teach. Many congratulations to Daisy for this fantastic achievement; it is very well deserved, and I know that she will continue to achieve great things in music at Bede’s and beyond.”
