Bede’s Celebrates the Start of the School Year
Pupils, parents and staff celebrated the start of the new school year with a range of whole-school events last weekend.
In the early evening of Friday 30 August, boarders from across the Bede’s community came together to take part in a Colour Run at Bede’s Senior School. The event welcomed pupils from all boarding houses – Camberlot, Crossways, Dorms, Dorter, Stud and Meads End (Prep School) – as part of the pupils’ induction into life at Bede’s.
Mrs Alex Murphy, Dorter Housemistress, says, “As well as being a lot of fun, our annual Colour Run is a wonderful opportunity for new and returning pupils to settle into the school environment and cement new friendships as we prepare for the busy school year ahead. It was – as always – a fantastic success, with many of our boarders already excited for next year’s event.”
The Colour Run was followed by the School’s annual Bede’s Fest event on Saturday 31 August, which welcomed over 600 parents, pupils and staff from across the Trust at The Park at Bede’s Senior School to enjoy a sunny afternoon of music, food and drinks. Talented Senior School pupils from across the years performed an array of much-loved music numbers on a purpose-built stage, while others ran a charity tea, coffee and ice cream stall.
Mr Peter Goodyer, Headmaster at Bede’s, comments, “It was a delight to welcome new and returning pupils, parents and staff from across the Trust for these events, which have become must-attend staples in the school calendar, giving everyone within our school community the chance to form and build friendships that will last throughout their time at Bede’s and beyond. With the new term already off to a busy and exciting start, we very much look forward to seeing what the year ahead brings.”
