Come Along To Bede's First Arts Week!
We are delighted to invite you to join us for our first Bede’s Art Week from Monday 5 December until Saturday 10 December.
This will be a celebration of the wonderful work the talented Bede’s students produce. There are several events going on during Arts week from Ceramic and Printmaking workshops for Parents, talks by Bede’s Alumni and an exhibition celebrating the talents of Bede’s students past and present.
We are very proud of our students and a recent Good Schools Guide report said the Bede’s art department was a place where “Imaginations are encouraged to flow and flourish”. This is reflected in the student’s excellent results at public examinations including at A level, for the second year in a row, 100% of A2 students achieving A* to B.
On Tuesday 6 December parents will be getting a taste of the Art Department by taking part in ceramic and print making workshops 6.30pm to 8pm. It will give parents a great insight into what goes on in the Art Department – and should be great fun too! The idea was inspired by the ‘Hey Clay’ event from last year.

On Thursday 8 there is a talk by Bede’s Alumni Henry Nathan and Ali Stead. Henry and Ali are two Bedian’s who recently graduated from the Bede’s Art School Department and have since made huge strides and a big impact in the world of Photography and Social Media.
As this article goes out, Henry’s account @canon_photos and Ali’s account @nikon_photography_ have more than 2.5 million followers, inspiring people around the world on a daily basis. You can watch one of Henry and Ali’s brilliant travel documentaries here:
Ali and Henry will discuss their progress since leaving Bede’s and answer questions. The talk is open to all Bede’s pupils and will inspire our current students.
Last but not least, a selection of work on display at the Arts Week Private view on Thursday 8th December – Private View in the Recital Room 7.15pm to 9pm
Everyone - parents, pupils and the public - are cordially invited to this event, at which there will be examples of some current student work along with examples of Alumni work.

Over a third of Bede’s Art students go on to study Art based subjects at University and a number of those go on to work within the creative industries – from Architecture, Set Design, Madame Taussaurds, Computer Game Design, Set Design, Photography etc. You can read about several of Bede’s Art Alumni in the new Bede's Alumni Magazine.
The private view is a great opportunity for students and parents to get a real sense of what happens in the Bede’s Art Department, the qualifications available, the standard of work produced and the careers that many Bede’s students go onto to enjoy.
We look forward to seeing you there!
