Counselling Service

All pupils at Bede's Senior School are welcome to access free counselling for support with any issues or concerns.

The Counselling Service has been running for many years at Bede's. It is available to any pupil and is very much a part of the strong pastoral support within the school. It is provided by fully qualified, BACP registered counsellors and is available every week day during term time.

About Counselling

Adolescence and secondary education are times of immense change and pressure on young people, and it is quite normal to sometimes feel overwhelmed or confused by the challenges this can bring. Counselling offers a safe, confidential space to talk things through. The counsellor will not discuss issues raised during the counselling session with anybody else without your permission, unless there are concerns about your welfare or somebody else's.

The counsellor does not seek to give advice or solutions; instead the intention is to help you find your own pathway to resolving the issue, partly through providing a space in which you can talk about your feelings.

How to book an appointment

Pupils can refer themselves to counselling in school either by emailing, by completing the Counselling Referral Form on MyBedes or by asking any member of staff to request an appointment. Staff and parents can also refer pupils, with the pupil's consent.

The counsellors at Bede's are called Sue and Sabrina. They are both registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
