PSHE at Bede's
Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education at Bede’s permeates all areas of school life.
Whilst all pupils have time in the weekly timetable to discuss important issues as a tutor group, we also ensure that they have the opportunity to listen to and learn from external speakers who address year groups and the pupils as a whole school. Recent speakers have included: Natasha Devon MBE, Dr Rosmary Taylor, Dr Charlie Easmon and Mandy Saligari. Our programme of study is very much based in the values that we embrace as a school and covers areas of Service, Responsible Living (including our Relationship and Sex Education), Mental Health, Equality and a broad outworking of all that is Spiritual.
As part of our commitment to actively include parents and guardians in the life of the school, we have regular opportunities for internal and external speakers to lead discussion and share from their vast experience and wisdom on issues that involve raising and supporting teenagers in the 21st century.
Under the leadership of the Head of PSHE, Reverend Tim Buckler, our full PSHE team includes our pupil driven Service & Wellbeing Committee (who play an active role in the creation and implementation of an exciting and innovative programme of study), Mr Ben Corbishley (teacher of Science), Mrs Deborah Franks (Head of Careers and Employability), Mr Paul Gibbs (Director of Higher Education), Ms Louise Morris (Director of 6th Form Diploma), Vanessa Tourle (Lead School Nurse) and Mr Chris Betts (E-Safety Coordinator).
