Overseas Admissions
Bede’s prides itself on its diverse, international community. The school has capacity for 330 boarders - 200 full, International boarders and 130 weekly boarders. On average, the school has 30+ different nationalities each year.
Overseas boarders
International pupils can apply to join Bede’s in Years 7 - 10 and Year 12. Pupils of Year 11 age (15 / 16 years) can apply to join our Pre Sixth cohort (one Year GCSE programme). Many of our international students will go on to study at some of the UK's top universities and a Bede's education provides the perfect preparation for this pathway.
Whilst English as an Additional Language (EAL) support will be provided to all students who do not have English as their first language, we do also require a reasonable level of proficiency in English to join Bede's. This is in order to ensure that pupils can access mainstream classes.
Overseas pupils will also need to have an educational guardian and we suggest contacting AEGIS or BSA, which are reputable bodies and can provide support in finding a guardian.
Whilst we always hope to meet you and your child face to face during the admissions process, we recognise this is not always possible so the Admissions team can guide you through how we adapt the process to work online instead.
If we aren't able to show you around the school in person, we are always happy to meet with you online to tell you more about the school and share further information which will be most relevant to your child. This early stage may also include a further meeting with a specialist member of staff, such as a sports coach, member of the boarding team, or our EAL or SEN leads. We recognise that deciding on the right school for your child can depend on many different things and we are committed to supporting you in that process.
