Overseas admissions
At Bede’s we understand that joining school from another country can be a daunting prospect whatever your age. At both our schools we have a rich tradition of welcoming children from different cultures and supporting them through this transition stage.
Our boarding house staff are accomplished at supporting pupils through the initial weeks of settling in and our EAL staff take a holistic interest in our overseas pupils’ experience at Bede’s which goes far beyond just their academic and linguistic progress.
We encourage overseas families to visit the School wherever possible, but we do understand that this is not always possible and therefore we offer remote interviews and meetings with staff via Skype.
We will request information such as school reports and a UKiset test in advance of this, in order that we can fully understand pupils’ academic and language needs and interests as well as address any concerns they may have about living away from home and questions about boarding life.
Our Admissions Team are always on hand to answer questions throughout the process and comprehensive information is provided to families ahead of their child starting at Bede’s which answers common questions whether that be about bedtimes, dietary needs, medical support or academic arrangements.
