Senior School Entry

Following a visit to the school and having completed a registration form, pupils are invited to a Bede’s Experience Day (BE Day) whilst in Yr6. A BE Day consists of an academic masterclass, a group discussion, a one to one interview, an online test and after lunch, an opportunity to take part in an activity. Parents are invited to an afternoon tea where they will meet the staff involved in the BE Day. All pupils are discussed by the Admissions Panel and candidates will be informed of the outcome 14 days after their BE Day. The admissions panel also reviews school reports and the school’s reference plus any other relevant documentation.

Once registered, pupils are invited to have a formal interview and to take an English Test. Ideally this is at Bede’s, but it can be done online too. If you book a private tour you will be shown round by the Registrar or Director of Admissions or one of our students.  You will also have the opportunity to meet with a member of the Senior Management Team or specialist staff such as sports coaches or one of the SEN team.  If sport is of particular interest we can also try to arrange a taster coaching session so please let us know in advance if this is the case.  

If you prefer to attend one of our Open Mornings, you will be shown round by one of our students and there will be talks which cover the academic programme, Sixth Form and sports as well as speeches by the Headmaster and our students.

For Year 7, 8 and 9 entry, applicants are invited to a 'Bede’s Experience (BE) Day'. Rather than intense exam rooms, children join small groups to take part in dynamic team tasks, casual group discussions, an individual chat, and a computer-based assessment. For Sixth Form entry, a formal interview with senior staff and a review of predicted GCSE grades are required.

We typically write to families within two weeks of their assessment day. Offers for Year 9 are unconditional, giving you absolute peace of mind for the final years of prep school, while Sixth Form offers are conditional on GCSE outcomes.
