Bede’s recent alumna Alice Capsey, and current Upper Sixth pupil Freya Kemp, have both been awarded first England Women central contracts for 2022-23 from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Music scholars at Bede’s were treated to a two-hour masterclass and workshop led by conductor and music director Mark Wigglesworth on Saturday, 14 May.
Bede’s boys won their second ESFA National U18s Cup Final with a thrilling victory over Thomas Telford School at the bet365 Stadium, home of Stoke City.
We received a lovely update from a mother of three Bede's pupils - Emily Aldred who was a pupil from September 1994 - July 2005, and James and Matthew Aldred who were pupils from September 1994 - July 2007.
My time at St Bede's back then, it was called, wasn't unlike any other school experience. It was filled with difficulties that I had to overcome and learn to develop strategies for, to cope with my struggles. Being dyslexic, I have always found it increasingly difficult to fit any academic bracket and didn't know how to fit into "normal" school life.
Sam had a passion for cars and had always planned to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps to one day own his own car dealership. But, after he started his first job as a trainee salesman, he soon realised this was not the career for him. What he did know though was that he still wanted to own his own business.
It was fantastic to have such huge interest this year, with 44 Old Bedians signing up to play, ranging from those who left 10 years ago to our most recent leavers of 2021. The highest number of alumni to date!
All the players stepped up to the challenge on the day and it was great to see everyone come together with such good humour.
