Upper Sixth Return to Bede's Prep
Charlotte Sutton, Head of Development and Alumni Relations

This week, a group of Upper Sixth pupils were able to take some time away from their revision to return to Bede’s Prep School, where they took a trip down memory lane.

Year 13 pupils

The pupils toured the School and relived memories from their younger years. Upon arrival, pupils were taken to the Dining Hall which had been set up beautifully. The pupils were served a delicious two-course meal which went down a storm!

Upper Sixth sat down with their teachers who had taught them years before to have lunch together, catch up and talk about their journey from the Prep School into the Senior School. They discovered what had changed since they had last seen each other and about the pupils’ future endeavours. It was a sentimental day for both pupils and teachers, with many “I remember when…” phrases being said.

Following a lovely lunch, the pupils walked the halls they used to follow and visited their old classrooms, tutor rooms and more. The pupils were able to go to the Prep School theatre and reminisced about their play of ‘Romeo and Julie’.

The Upper Sixth pupils saw the next generation of Bedians and relived memories from when they were those children playing cricket.

Year 13 at the Prep School

The pupils came away from the day with a feeling of joy and happiness to relive a day of their youth, When asked “What have you found great about today?” they said:

“The nostalgia, seeing all of my old classrooms making the memories flood back. Bringing back the memories from my childhood helped me realise how good my childhood was.”

“It was really nice to be able to see all the rooms and look back on all the memories I made here fondly”

“I’ve enjoyed coming back and experiencing deja vu, seeing old teachers was both scary and sentimental”

Overall, the day provided a special chance for the pupils to reminisce and retain their strong connection between the two schools. They were able to reconnect with members of staff who have helped them on their journeys.
