We have a total of 14 teams and around a third of the School regularly represent Bede's. All players receive at least two football training sessions per week plus fixtures on Saturdays. We play some of the strongest football schools in the country and have an extensive fixtures list. Our football programme runs all year round, rather than just in the winter months which is unusual for a school.
In 2018, Bede's became a member of the HUDL league at Senior 1st XI level - made up of the strongest independent footballing schools in the country. Our team were announced as HUDL League Champions in May 2020 and English Football Schools Association (ESFA) U18 National Champions in May 2022. These achievements remain something that we are extremely proud of, and testament to players' dedication and hard work.
The Junior A teams play in the Elgin Southern League and the U15s were champions in the 2021/2022 season.
Coaching is led by Director of Football, David Caryer, UEFA A pre and Sussex coach, supported by former professional footballer, Dan Harding ad Director of Swerve Football Academy, Oliver Davies.
Many of our alumni have gone onto achieve great things at professional football clubs. Alumni include Solly March (Brighton and Hove Albion Premiership footballer), James Norwood (top goal scorer in 2018/19 for League 2, Tranmere Rovers and now playing for Ipswich Town), and Harry Mills (signed for Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022).
Bede's Football department tour to top European academies every year. In the last four years, we have visited AFC Ajax in Amsterdam, Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid and SL Benfica, Lisbon.
