Independent Schools in Kent and Sussex

Welcome to Bede's. We are an independent, co-educational, day and boarding school for pupils aged 3 months to 18 years. We have two beautiful sites, one in Eastbourne (Bede's Prep), and one in the heart of the East Sussex countryside (Bede's Senior School).

All of our pupils are treated as individuals. We help to discover and develop their talents. Every girl and boy is encouraged to try their very best, and they are empowered to enjoy their learning.

Bede's Schools offer a varied education, where each pupil is encouraged to develop their passions, achieve their potential and seek new horizons. Bede's is a bustling, busy place, with lots of energy and a delightful rhythm.

Bede's Senior School offers education from Year 9 to Year 13 (Sixth Form). Following the Prep School's success, the Senior School was founded in 1978 by Mr Peter Pyemont. The School is based in the rural village of Upper Dicker and is surrounded by over 100 acres of Sussex Down National Park.

It is one of the fastest-growing and most successful private schools of the 20th Century. In the last decade, there have been several developments on site including a new Sports Complex, Animal Management Unit and four new boarding houses. There is currently a new boarding house being built with 60 en-site bedrooms, as well as a communal atrium, learning spaces, break out rooms and flats for house staff and tutors.

Bede's Senior School is made up of a community that encourages each other to find and develop their passions, develop lasting friendships and achieve their vert best.

Peter Goodyer, Bede's Senior School Headmaster says, "By presenting our pupils with the prospect of innovation, experimentation and exploration, all while championing choice at every turn, we imbue each Bedian with the confidence to say that they excel at those things which they value most."
