Bede's Prep School

Bede's Prep School offers education from Nursery (3 months) through until Year 9, where pupils move to our Senior School. Bede's Prep was founded in 1895 with a roll of four boys. In 1902, it moved from it's then-site in Blackwater Road to its current, grander premises where it is nestled on a cliff top above Beachy Head, affording beautiful views of the sea and sharing a boarder with South Downs National Park.

Over its century of existence, the School has produced a number of notable alumni, including Eddie Izzard and Nicky Henson. In recent years, there have been a number of developments to the Bede's Prep site including the construction of a Sports Hall and swimming pool, a new astro and dining room.

Leigh-Anne Morris, Bede's Prep Headteacher says, "Our kind-hearted community is underpinned by generosity of spirit, mutual respect, warmth and compassion. By providing a festival of opportunities, we enable our pupils to discover new passions and develop new talents motivating them to be the best versions of themselves."

At Bede's, it is our vision to ensure that every child finds joy in their pursuit of brilliance. We aim to craft a more joyful education by cultivating a vibrant learning experience, motivating us to pursue our individual best. Our school provides a festival of opportunity, enabling us to discover new passions and develop new talents.

Bede's Senior School

Bede's Senior School offers education for those from Year 9 until Year 13 (Sixth Form). Following the success of the Prep School, Bede's Senior School was founded in 1978 by Mr Peter Pyemont. The School is based at the heart of the rural village of Upper Dicker and is surrounded by over 100 beautiful acres of Sussex Downs National Park.

Since 1979, Bede's Senior School has grown rapidly from a starting figure of 23 pupils to today's roll of approximately 800. It is one of the fastest-growing and most successful independent schools of the 20th Century. Developments in the last decade alone have seen the construction of a new Sports Complex, Animal Management Unit and four new boarding houses. Currently in development is a new Dorms House with 60 en-suite bedrooms, as well as a communal atrium, break-out zones, learning spaces for Day Boarders and flats for house staff and tutors.

Bede's Senior School fosters a community of discovery which encourages every individual to find and develop their passions, seek new horizons, develop lasting friendships and achieve their potential.

Peter Goodyer, Bede's Senior School Headmaster comments, "By presenting our pupils with the prospect of innovation, exploration and experimentation, all the while championing choice at every turn, we imbue each Bedian with the confidence to say that they excel at those things which they value most."
