Covid-19: Return to School, September 2020

We are incredibly proud of and grateful to all members of the Bede's community for showing such strength and support throughout the remote learning period.

As we look ahead to welcoming everyone back at the start of the new academic year, we are working hard behind the scenes to make sure that the return to Bede's is as safe as it possibly can be for all members of our community.

As you are aware, this is a continually evolving situation. This page will be updated on a regular basis, so please do check back regularly.

Many thanks, as always, for your support.

News

We are delighted to announce that Bede’s has adopted the Boarding Schools’ Association Covid-Safe Charter.

By adopting the Charter, Bede’s demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that a range of measures are in place which will allow the school to reopen safely in September. These include cleaning, testing, staff training, the provision of effective communications with staff, pupils and parents as well as a range of measures which ensure that good practice in relation to hand hygiene, the wearing of masks when appropriate and social distancing, are in place within the School.

Bede’s Senior School Headmaster and CEO Mr Peter Goodyer commented, “We are committed to ensuring that all of our pupils can return to school safely in September and the BSA’s Covid-Safe Charter is an important way of giving parents, pupils and staff the confidence that we are following the guidance to ensure that our boarding houses, and the School more broadly, will be a safe environment.”

Bede's has launched a Covid-19 Hardship Fund to provide financial support for families affected by the crisis.

In the last couple of weeks of Summer Term, we were delighted to welcome back some of our Lower Fifth and Lower Sixth pupils for socially-distanced lessons, in line with government guidance. It was wonderful to see them catch up in person, get a head start on exam preparations, and enjoy some sport - all while adhering to social distance and hygiene rules.

Last term, we loved welcoming back some of our Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils, as well as key workers' children, from Monday 1 June in line with government guidance. Our pupils settled in brilliantly, showing lots of enthusiasm in lessons and strictly adhering to the social distancing rules.
