Monday 11 May was an incredible day of cricket at Bede’s as we hosted the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) for two fantastic fixtures.

Bede’s 1st XI played MCC Men and secured a victory on the very last ball by 1 wicket!
MCC declared on 207/8 - with Lower Fifth pupil Angus taking 3 wickets, Lower Sixth pupil Jake and Lower Sixth pupil Matthew picking up 2 each.
In reply, Lower Sixth pupil Gadson made a superb 61, Lower Sixth pupil Adam added 46, and Lower Sixth pupil Rupert showed nerves of steel, finishing 24* to see Bede’s home by 1 wicket in the final seconds of the game!

Our Girls XI faced off against a talented MCC Women’s side in another high-quality display of cricket. While the competition was fierce, the day was defined by outstanding individual achievements:
Congratulations to Lower Sixth pupil Meha, who was honored with the MCC Spirit of Cricket award for her sportsmanship and conduct.
Well done to First Year pupil Romilly, who was awarded a new ball for Most Impressive All-Round Performance.
Thank you to the MCC for joining us and providing our cricketers with such a memorable experience.
