Football: Ollie Hobden Signs to Charlton Athletic
David Caryer, Director of Football

Congratulations to Bede’s Upper Fifth pupil and 1st XI Footballer Ollie Hobden, who has been signed by Charlton Athletic Football Club on a two-year professional contract.

Ollie will finish school in June before beginning his professional career. He has been a regular member of the Addick’s (CHAFC) U18’s side this season, playing predominantly at full back; this is a fantastic achievement for an U16 player.

Ollie says, "I am very happy to have been offered the scholarship to Charlton Athletic Football Club. To play professional football is a dream come true, and really does mean a lot to me. My thanks go to everyone for their support."

Mr Caryer, Director of Football, comments, "Ollie joined us in the First Year in 2018 ,and during this time has matured as a person and a player. Academically speaking, he is predicted to do excellent things and his football has gone from strength to strength.

"Ollie plays every game as if it’s a cup final, even if it’s a friendly training game or practice; his determination to work hard and win every single time he steps on the football pitch is what sets him apart. When combined with excellent technical ability and athleticism it is clear that a professional football career is the correct pathway for him. I wish Ollie every success - he fully deserves it."
