Bede's
Pupils give it their all in House Competitions
Rachael Woollett, Deputy Head

In the second round of House Competitions last week the dreadful weather sadly made some of our events impossible. In spite of the weather, it was a hugely enjoyable event. There was all to play for after our first round, with some very enthusiastic pupils and competitive House staff!

The quizzes were moved online, with Crossways winning the Senior Quiz and Bloomsbury winning the Junior Quiz. In the swimming pool it was the girls turn to show us who was quickest in the water with Bloomsbury coming out first. Charleston and Camberlot won the Rowing and Stud won the Technical Challenge.

Stud also proved to be the best bakers, with Charleston producing the best sculpture. Crossways and Dorms won the Badminton competitions and Charleston proved to be the best mathematicians. Crossways won our first ever Photographer Competition. The Hockey were was highly competitive, with Charleston winning the Junior Competition and Bloomsbury winning the Senior Competition. In the Football, Deis were the triumphant Junior team with Knights beating Camberlot on penalties for the Senior title.

Places as they stand after this round are:

In 10th place with 46 points is Deis
In 9th place with 48 points is Dicker
In 8th place with 51 points is Dorms
In 7th place with 61 points is Knights
In 6th place with 62 points is Dorter
In 5th place with 63 points is Camberlot
In 4th place with 71 points is Stud
In 3rd place with 80 points is Crossways

The 2nd place is on 88 points, 1st is on 89 points – it is incredibly close! In current first place is Charleston.

The highly-competitive and much-anticipated Pumpkin Carving Competition followed on Thursday 15 October – and with points so tight there was all to "carve" for!

We saw some hugely imaginative designs, with lots of skill and creativity displayed across the board. The standard was incredibly high and judging the winners was a real challenge, but after much deliberation the prizes were awarded as follows:

Charleston won 1st place with their comical and skilled Minion design.
Crossways won 2nd place with their beautiful design dedicated to love.
Knights won 3rd place with their topical, tongue-in-cheek dedication to the Coronavirus.
Dorter won 4th place with their inventive "Speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil" design.

Very well done to everyone who took part! We hope you all have a lovely Half Term break, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
