Bede's
House Music by Lower Sixth pupil Josh
Lower Sixth pupil, Josh

House music has always been a highlight at Bede’s every year. Every pupil has been working very hard and once again brought such a wonderful night of music performances, another remarkable night of the school year.

In this year’s house music, we’ve all been divided into five groups, two houses per group to work on the big song, band and solo performances. A lot of us have been giving up their breaks, lunch times or even after school time in order to bring such a high standard night of music.

To give all our respect to Tina Turner – a rock legend that just passed away this year. All of our big song choices were songs that were sung or written by Tina Turner, which a lot of them are very well known and all of us really enjoyed listening to and singing to.

Into the solo section, I have represented Studbury which is my second house music solo after the success from last year. I’ve sung one of my original songs last year “What’s Wrong” which is now on all streaming platforms under the name “LilJoshFlame”. And for this year I’ve brought two more of my own songs “Love Lies” and “My bad” which is an extension of the story in “What’s Wrong”. Without the help of Seb Robinson accompanying on guitar, the performance definitely wouldn’t be as successful, huge thanks for his effort and also thanks for all the audience that have enjoyed the performance. The highlight of the night will definitely be Pame Mariscal Cassis’s incredible singing of the famous song “sky fall” by Adele which has stunned everyone in the mph, very well done and well deserved win for the solo section.

Up to the band section, there were quite a few memorable moments such as Dortorms performing ‘California Dreamin’ and Studbury performing the well known song ‘Party in the USA’ by Miley Cyrus which both performances have really got everyone’s attention. And obviously we couldn’t leave out the stunning performance from Cambericker which won the band section with “Don’t Look Back in Anger” by Oasis, their effort was exceptional and congratulations to their success.

After another year of very tight results among all houses with tiny margins between performances, Cambericker won the overall prize with only a few points ahead from the second place. It was an exceptional night and everyone absolutely enjoyed it so much, it wouldn’t be as great without the support of the sound team. And also the staff band including Mr. Williams, Mr. Boorman, Mr. Scamardella, Mr. Aburn and also our alumni Grace Watkins who have done an excellent job accompanying us for our big songs. And additionally the wonderful performance with Mr. Carville and Mr. Juniper in addition to the staff band to end this wonderful night. It has been amazing and we will all be looking forward to house music again next year.
