One of many highlights for me, as we reach the end of another school year, is our Whole School charity ramble across the Downs. It is always a marvellous opportunity to gather together as a community and raise money for a worthy cause. Whilst we will sadly be unable to do the same this year, we have chosen to go ahead with a slightly tweaked ‘lockdown version’ of our charity walk and raise money for the Beachy Head Chaplaincy.

Hiking a ‘virtual mountain’
We would like you and your child/ren to complete a sponsored walk between now and the last Wednesday of this term, 24 June. This will be based around the Three Peaks challenge and detailed below are the number of steps you would need to walk in order to have reached the equivalent distance for each mountain.
Understandably, different year groups will require slightly different challenges so your child can choose which mountain they would like to accomplish. They may choose more than one. Many of our older pupils, for example, may like to attempt the Three Peaks Challenge by walking the equivalent of Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis!
You can complete your chosen challenge by going on one very long walk or, if you would prefer, you could split the steps up and do a little each day during our charity week until you have reached your target. This challenge is not off limits to those who are self-isolating, either. In this case we would suggest you either use a staircase or your garden (ala Captain Tom) to reach your chosen number of steps.
