For my IPQ research project in Year 7, I decided to carry out some charity work. I picked JDRF as my charity to sponsor. JDRF charity and a funder of world-class medical research to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes. I picked JDRF because my sister has type 1 diabetes and JDRF has really helped her.
My goal was to organise a bake sale and raise £60 which is enough to fund for 1 hour of research. I ended up selling almost completely out and raising £180 which was funding for 3 hours. Because of the time of year, a company called The Big Give, was doubling any donations given or raised within one week in November. As a result, I managed to fund £360. The money I raised will support 6 hours of research and Rufus bears (Rufus bears are bears with diabetes for children to learn about diabetes when they are diagnosed) will be given to children who are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
