Nursery

Uniform is not essential, but we do advise parents to invest in certain items for their own ease. For advice and information about clothing such as jumpers, jogging bottoms and polo shirts which are available to purchase.

Once a place has been confirmed, your child’s key worker will call you to book their settling-in session.  These sessions usually take place two weeks before your chosen start date, with the first one taking around 30 minutes with parents remaining present.

Depending on how this goes, a second one may be booked; we usually recommend that parents leave part way through this session.

These sessions are very informal and flexible and are tailored to the needs of each child and we would never force a start date on a family until we were all comfortable that a child was settled and ready. 

Yes, Bede’s offers EYEE funding up to the age of 5 years. 

Yes, unlike in many nurseries, all the food is prepared by the dedicated catering team in Bede’s Prep School who are used to tailoring food for each different age group’s needs.  They are also able to cater for any allergies.  An additional benefit of accessing the main school’s dining facilities, is that as children move through the Nursery they are able to eat over in the School’s wonderful dining room, learning how to eat independently and of the importance of structured meal times.  The nursery children eat at separate times to the main the Prep School. 

Nursery staff monitor the children very closely and will often check a child's temperature as part of this process. If a child has a raised temperature or is experiencing pain due to teething we will inform parents and administer paracetamol with consent.

This happens in a variety of ways. When parents collect their child, they will receive daily updates regarding sleeping and eating as well as any exciting development news! Additional information is often emailed to parents, as well as communicated via our eTapestry system where we are also able to share photos, developmental milestones and curriculum information.

Yes, Bede’s Nursery is open for 51 weeks per year and families are free to go on holiday whenever they like, however, we do ask that you let staff know in advance when you will be away so we can adjust our registers.  Please note though that fees remain payable during any periods of absence from Nursery. 

Dance and Swimming lessons are included within the Nursery fee structure for children in The Rainbow Fish and Pre-School classes. Specialist ballet and tennis lessons are available once children become Pre-School age. These extra-curricular activities incur an additional charge and are charged on a termly basis.  

All of the Nursery children enjoy a range of different music and singing activities every day. Children in the Jelly Fish, Rainbow Fish and Pre-School classes participate in weekly singing lessons with our specialist music teacher.
