At Bede’s Prep, we are committed to identifying and supporting pupils’ individual learning needs at an early stage. Our aim is to help every child develop the confidence, independence and skills needed to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
Particular emphasis is placed on developing literacy, numeracy and organisational skills, ensuring that pupils have strong foundations for learning across the curriculum. When a pupil with identified or emerging special educational needs joins the school, assessments in reading and mathematics help us to understand their strengths and areas for development. This information is used to create an Individual Provision Map and Learning Plan, which is shared with teaching staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach across all lessons.
Our Learning Enhancement team works closely with class teachers, subject specialists and parents to provide appropriate support and monitor progress. Where additional intervention is required, individual learning support lessons can be arranged in consultation with parents. Through this collaborative approach, we strive to ensure that every pupil is supported to reach their full potential and engage confidently in all aspects of school life.
In both our Prep and Senior Schools, our Learning Support team liaise closely with subject or class teachers and tutors to ensure that each child’s needs are fully understood and are accommodated within the classroom.
