Years 3 to 6
Ready for everything
As children move through into Year 3 and beyond the focus moves from acquiring basic tools to learning how to apply them. Pupils learn to analyse, solve problems and think critically. Lessons become more structured and academically demanding.
In English pupils will read in more depth, write more purposefully, use more sophisticated language and grammar.
In Maths, lessons become more abstract, also gaining mental fluidity in areas such as tables, fractions and percentages and apply multi-step problem-solving techniques to real-world problems.
And finally in Science deeper concepts are introduced and pupils will learn to measure results and explain not just what is happening but why.
