Learning Enhancement
Bede’s Prep School has a thriving Learning Enhancement Department providing specialist support to children who may need some booster sessions to progress their learning.
All children develop at their own rate and Bede’s is committed to providing pupils with every opportunity to succeed and this may require additional, individual or group sessions as appropriate.
The Learning Enhancement Department works in collaboration with classroom teachers, teaching assistants, parents and pupils to ensure that the pupils make excellent progress. By fostering positive attitudes towards learning, pupils are encouraged to become competent, self-confident and independent learners.
Learning Enhancement sessions primarily aim to support the development of literacy and numeracy skills. When indicated, a specific programme is planned and delivered by specialist teachers. This is arranged following discussions with parents and attracts an additional cost.
Where external assessments are required, the Learning Enhancement Department is able to liaise closely with the relevant specialists, such as Educational Psychologists, prior to any assessment and then to meet with parents in order to discuss how best to implement any recommendations within school.
The Director of Learning Enhancement and the Head of Learning Enhancement are both available to discuss individual requirements. Parents are actively encouraged to work closely with the Learning Enhancement team to secure the best possible outcome for their child.
Children follow a “Creative Curriculum” which is cross-curricular and involves a combination of play, exploration as well as thinking and creating and covers all areas of development including communication and language, personal, social and emotional and physical development.
