Community and Volunteering

Bede’s Prep values its position within the local community, and from the moment they arrive at the School pupils get involved with a range of charity and community initiatives.

It is part of our ethos that pupils should be engaged with the real world and encouraged to continue to make a positive contribution to society after they leave.

The pupils take part in many Festivals in the local community, such as the Eastbourne Arts Festival as well as the Eastbourne Shakespeare Festival alongside other schools. The choirs and orchestra perform in formal external concerts as well as more informally at local homes for the elderly which is a source of delight for those residents.  The pupils also love to welcome members of the local community into our evensong services in the School Chapel.

Charity fundraising activities run throughout the year, from the annual MacMillan Cancer Care Coffee Morning through Comic Relief and to the work of our Friends of Bede’s Prep in raising money for local charity groups. Pupils also take part in a variety of local park and beach litter cleans organised by Plastic Free Eastbourne throughout the year.
