Nurture
Nurture at Bede's Prep cultivates a supportive and enriching environment that fosters holistic growth, encouraging pupils to develop their potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Sessions are delivered through small group work and are run by our Nurture practitioners who have undergone their training through Nurture UK.
Our Nurture practitioners work with pupils who have been identified through our Pastoral team. Pupils who would benefit from nurture sessions may have emerging social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
The nurture group environment is designed to be welcoming and safe, to support pupils in developing relationships with their peers and teachers, to develop their self esteem, and to have a greater understanding of and ability to express their emotions.
Nurture is an effective intervention that is delivered during the school day. A Boxall profile will be completed with a pupil at the start of the intervention and repeated again at the end to evidence progression and inform next steps of support.
A Boxall profile can help identify hidden vulnerabilities and identify where specific behaviours come from. When a child displays behaviours that may isolate them from their peers and or be mistaken as unwilling to engage in lessons.
Nurture is one of many ways we support our pupils here at Bede’s Prep.
