Basketball at Bede’s is led by our Head Coach, Noel Malone. With over 30 years’ experience in Basketball, Noel has extensive coaching experience and is a Level Four referee in the English National League.
At Bede’s Prep, basketball is taught as part of the PE curriculum across half a term on a carousel basis.
Coaching is led by our Head of Netball Sue Ivemy, an experienced Level 2 coach, England Netball-accredited tutor and umpire mentor. She is supported by Level 2 coach, Mary-Jane Newberry, and former county player Kyra Merchant. Training takes place on both indoor and outdoor courts.
Children from Reception through to Year 6 enjoy weekly Swimming classes, with Years 7 and 8 swimming on a fortnightly timetable. In addition to our curricula swimming, we offer five swimming squad training sessions and activities such as kayaking, diving, lifesaving, snorkelling and water polo.
Tennis coaching takes place throughout the year at Bede’s Prep School. All levels are catered for, including elite, development and club levels. Coaching is led by Level 4 LTA Coach, Jane Nash, with assistance from Junior National and Great Britain player, Francesca Scollo and Matt Golledge (LTA Level 3, National player). Academy training is available year-round at an additional cost.
Group coaching takes place during the school day with every year group having a one-hour group coaching lesson each week. In addition, there is an early morning Team Tennis coaching session by invitation only. Fixtures and matches take place during the Summer Term and we aim, where possible to give each child who wants to play, two matches per term out of season.
The Prep School also offers an annual tennis tour to Spain, a trip to Wimbledon, a Parent/Child Tournament as well as the opportunity to play in Sussex County Championships, LTA Team Tennis Schools Events and the Bede’s School Championships.
