We believe pupils perform at their best when they feel happy, valued, and inspired. Our First Year curriculum allows pupils to deepen their talents while equipping them with the future-ready skills needed for modern careers.

Academic Breadth

To ensure strong academic footing, 13.5 hours are ring-fenced for core subjects - English, Maths, Science, and Languages. Around this, pupils tailor their learning: those who excel in Music, Dance, or Art can focus intensely on creative development, while others choose additional academic subjects.

Broadening their horizons further, The World carousel offers an exciting introduction to politics, philosophy, history, and geography, while the Twenty-First Century carousel develops both practical abilities (cookery, first aid) and essential interpersonal skills.

Future Preparation

Supported by a vibrant co-curricular programme and a Term 1 Peak District Outdoor Pursuits week, pupils build confidence and strong peer connections. By Term 2, with close support from their Personal Tutor, each child is perfectly placed to select their GCSE, IGCSE, and BTEC pathways for the Fifth Form.
