Maths

Whether you are looking to study maths beyond Bede's or simply looking to pass your GCSE we have a programme that will suit all needs and abilities. Our GCSE curriculum starts in Year 9 giving us plenty of time to cement key concepts and principles. Further Maths can also be studied from Year 10 which leads nicely into the A Level Maths and A Level Further Maths offering we provide. We keep class sizes appropriate to the pupils needs as well as providing over 7 additional extra-curricular sessions per week for pupils to receive additional support. Our main target is to build pupil confidence by making lessons engaging and fun so that each pupil can maximise their potential.

As well as the regular weekly lunchtime and afterschool prep and revision sessions we also offer a Gifted and Talented programme which meets once a week to discuss mathematical concepts and thinking. This session is aimed at stretching those that have a real passion for the subject and want to explore maths at a deeper level.

We have a number of teachers who are well versed in preparing pupils for upcoming Oxbridge interviews and exams. These pupils will have regular weekly sessions in the lead up so they go into them as ready as they can be.

We run various competitions throughout the year ranging from individual UKMT Senior and Intermediate Challenges to team competions involving Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. In addition we also have two other yearly events. The Year 7 Engineering Day which invovles the Bede's prep school and the Space Design Competition which we host every year which is open to all age groups and other schools.

We have several support and catch up sessions per week both dueing lunchtime and after school to support those pupils who need help with prep and a certain topic etc. In addition we also put on weekend sessions for both GCSE and A Level revision in the lead up to public exams. The LE dept also has maths specialists with it.
