Downland Walking and Wildlife

Downland Walking: Consistently one of Bede’s most popular clubs, this group hits the trails three afternoons a week. Pupils embark on scenic walks across the South Downs, through Friston Forest, around Arlington Reservoir, and along the Sussex coastline—breathing in fresh air and taking in some of the most beautiful panoramas in the UK.
Space for Wildlife: For those who love the environment and want to stay active without chasing a ball around a pitch, this club works to make the school grounds a haven for local creatures. It’s also a fantastic way to earn volunteering hours for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) or the Bede's Diploma.

While it serves as a brilliant training ground for competitions like the Eastbourne Young Chef, it’s primarily a space to experiment with fine dining dishes, elaborate cakes, and pastries.
Knitting: The ultimate digital detox! This cozy club gets pupils off their phones and lowers stress while teaching them to knit beautiful, practical items like headbands, scarves, and blankets.

Dungeons and Dragons (D&D): This iconic pen-and-paper roleplaying club is booming! Players and organisers unleash their wild creativity through story-based games—ranging from sci-fi space shuttle adventures to fantasy escapades involving flaming tigers or taking a rabble of orcs shopping at a medieval superstore.
Chess: Pupils of all skill levels can learn the game or sharpen their tactics with expert coaching from our very own resident, in-house Grandmaster.

Reading, Cinema and Snooker

Aura 5: A dedicated wellness activity for girls, focusing on five steps to well-being through creative projects like vision boards, gratitude writing, peaceful lakeside walks, and random acts of kindness.
Reading for Pleasure: A peaceful sanctuary where pupils can read quietly with a warm cup of tea and biscuits. Guided by our expert librarian, it’s a wonderful space to swap book recommendations purely for the joy of reading.
Snooker: For older pupils looking for a therapeutic escape, the snooker hall offers a quiet, intelligent pastime. Players can whisper, practice their skills, and even watch two top-50 world-ranked players practicing right alongside them.
World Cinema Club: Every Thursday, pupils gather to watch a different film from around the globe. Led by a language teacher, this club is entirely about enjoying cinema for pure pleasure rather than academic study.
