Performing Arts
Our Performing and Creative Arts activities offer a spectacular stage for pupils to unleash their imagination, hone their performance skills, and collaborate on breathtaking productions. From theatrical spectacles to rock anthems and close-harmony jazz, there is a creative home for everyone here.
We let talent dictate the path.

Drama & Backstage Production
For those who love the magic of the theatre, we offer immersive opportunities both on stage and behind the scenes:
-
The Junior Play: Step under the spotlight and join the cast of George Orwell’s classic tale. This activity builds immense confidence, teamwork, and performance skills as the cast brings a powerful, imaginative production to life.
-
Cast Rehearsals: Dedicated, deep-exploration sessions for cast groups to rehearse and perfect the plays they will be performing later in the term.
-
Costume & Mask Design: Explore the visual side of theatre by crafting costumes and masks. Pupils develop practical skills in textiles, sculpture, and character creation.
-
Production Arts Skills: A fantastic behind-the-scenes activity where students develop practical technical skills to support the many live shows across the Performing Arts Faculty.
Music & Sound Creation
Whether you want to play in a massive ensemble, write your own digital tracks, or rock out on the guitar, our music department has you covered:
-
Orchestra & Jazz Band Extravaganza: The ultimate Bede's musical mash-up! This spectacular afternoon is open to all instrumental students to play together in a massive, energetic ensemble.
-
Music Technology: A musically creative space where you can master digital tools and music software to produce and record the exact music you want to make.
-
Rock Band: Run by our resident guitar aficionado, Andy Williams, this high-energy club is the absolute go-to for anyone who loves to play rock music.
-
Supervised Instrument Practice: A dedicated, invitation-only slot for pupils to sharpen their skills and practice their instruments with staff support.
Vocal & Musical Theatre Ensembles
Raise your voice and share your talent in our premier singing groups:
-
Musical Theatre: Open to all students, this activity is your chance to showcase your vocal talents. Singers will explore a vibrant variety of musical theatre styles, performing both as a powerful whole group and in intimate, small ensembles.
-
Jazz Choir: One of our premier, close-harmony ensembles. This elite group rehearses sophisticated vocal arrangements in preparation for major school highlights, including Cabaret, the Gala Concert, Speech Day, and various jazz events throughout the year.
Spotlight on Dance: Legat & Open Dance Slots
Dance holds a prestigious place at Bede's, and we structure our timetable to ensure our dancers get world-class training in our beautiful, professional studios.
-
Legat Academy Training (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays): Our dedicated activity slots on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays are specifically designed for our Legat Academy students. This clever scheduling allows these talented dancers to seamlessly build intensive, high-level training time - including Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, and Tap - directly into their weekly school timetable.
-
Wednesday Open Dance (After School): We passionately believe that dance should be accessible to everyone! That is why we offer our incredibly popular Open Dance activity every Wednesday after school. This session is specifically designed for pupils who are not part of the audition-only Legat programme. It gives all enthusiastic students the wonderful opportunity to take dance classes in the official studios, learning directly from our elite, professional Legat teachers just for the pure joy of movement.
