About Bede's
Bede’s Senior School is an independent HMC day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 13-18.
Located in the rural Sussex village of Upper Dicker just outside the South Downs National Park, the School currently educates 760 pupils, 300 of whom board in our five boarding houses.
With a holistic philosophy which puts the individual first and gives equal priority to academic, co-curricular and pastoral aspects of life, Bede’s is an unashamedly modern school which steadfastly refuses to top-slice its intake, believing instead that it can draw the academic potential from all children.
The School believes in discovering the talents of every pupil and in enabling each individual to succeed in every aspect of their education, placing creativity, passion and individuality at the heart of school life.
"‘Its location is a real plus… beautiful, surrounded by green… got a bit of a wow factor,’ said a parent. A first impression of the school is one of great size, with school buildings a mish-mash of styles – some old and charming, some modern and splendid, and a few huts."
