Bede's

Community and Volunteering

It takes a special kind of pupil to do the kinds of things our pupils are doing. Luckily, we have many, many special pupils at Bede's who are keen to volunteer their time for good causes.

Community Links

The Bede’s Community Links project was founded in 2010 and involves pupils volunteering their time to help local groups and individuals.  Alongside work at the local village primary school Park Mead, as part of our annual “Make a Difference Day” pupils get involved in a range of other voluntary projects including litter picking on the seafront, helping at St Wilfrid’s Hospice and with a riding for the disabled project.  Another long-standing part of the programme is the Knit and Natter activity which sees pupils regularly spending time with local residents whilst learning to knit.

Duke of Edinburgh

The Award is divided into four sections; Skill, Physical, Service and Expedition and many pupils will be able to complete some or all of these sections through Bede’s Co-Curricular Programme by selecting relevant activities alongside the Duke of Edinburgh activity itself.
