Bede's

Health and Wellbeing

The Health and Wellbeing Centre is an integral part of school life at Bede's Senior School, being a particularly welcoming and supportive part of the School. Its staff provide health care for all aspects of pupils’ lives from health screening to first aid and the assessment and management of minor illness and injury.

We see over 100 pupils each week with a wide range of injuries and ailments and also support pupils with their emotional wellbeing, working alongside two specialist counsellors who offer a free counselling service to pupils throughout the week.

Our nurses also work alongside our School Medical Officer (School Doctor) who provides twice weekly surgeries and a physiotherapist who runs a weekly clinic.

The Centre is open from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

It is the aim of the Health and Wellbeing Team to provide a friendly, efficient and professional service to all pupils and staff who need the services of the centre and its “open door” policy is a highly valued aspect of the School’s pastoral service.

Help and Support

In recent years adolescent mental health has been very much in the spotlight but the critical importance of this aspect of healthcare for young people is something which Bede’s has been championing for many years now.

All pupils at Bede’s, whether they be day pupils or boarders are welcome to access free counselling for support with any issues or concerns.

Our highly experienced counsellors work confidentially and strictly within the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and offer a safe and confidential space to talk problems through.
