Pupil Voice

Prefects at Bede’s are truly central to the running of the School.

In houses they act as crucially important role-models and help manage everything from evening prep to house dinners and across the School they act as our very best ambassadors, welcoming a range of external guests and leading the various committees which help to connect the senior leadership team with the thoughts of our pupil body.

Their impact cannot be overestimated; in recent years our prefect body has led important work on gender equality, mental health and relationships. Pictured are some of our prefects at our pupil-led 'Equality Still Matters' event in Summer Term 2019.

Our prefects undergo a rigorous selection process involving an initial written application and subsequent interview.  Successful pupils are then provided with training and participate in workshops which prepare them for the responsibilities which lie ahead.

We seek to ensure the same diversity of talent, character and background in our prefect body that we value in the School more broadly and our prefects are evidence of our firmly held belief that we have never and will never seek to recruit identikit children but rather build a vibrant community built on a celebration of diversity.

Put simply, our prefects are our brightest and best in the very broadest sense and we are extraordinarily proud of them.
