At Bede’s it is our mission that pupils find joy in their journey through school but we recognise that outcomes are important too. Like all schools we measure the impact we have had on our pupils’ learning through results in public examinations.

Exam Results

Public examinations remain the cornerstone of the British education system and the annual rhythm created by these examinations is embedded into life at Bede’s just as they are in all schools. Exam results matter to us, because they matter to our pupils and we hope that this booklet has helped explain the interventions which we feel have the most impact on exam outcomes.

The strategies that teachers and tutors make may become more evident in the build up to the summer exam season, but it is worth remembering that such preparations begin from the moment our pupils join us. Our junior years focus on ensuring that pupils have all the building blocks in place to support them; everything from structuring essays and understanding sources to effective revision strategies and building exam techniques.
