At Bede's we appreciate that whilst academic studies are critically important, there are many other elements which are equally integral to creating and enriching and successful Sixth Form experience.
The programme that has been built around the academic curriculum in the Sixth Form therefore, has been tailored over time to offer a rich variety of enrichment and leadership opportunities.
Mentoring
Over the years many of our students have enjoyed the opportunity to mentor and develop younger students, leading masterclasses for the senior years or even helping with exam preparation. Whilst the benefits to younger students may be obvious, these opportunities are highly valued by our older students as well providing them with evidence of those all-important soft skills, as well as boosting confidence and providing an experience which can be deeply rewarding.
Social Events
Our Sixth Formers enjoy their own Sixth Form Centre - an area for quiet study and the venue for social events. The Leavers' Ball towards the end of the Upper Sixth year is a truly a night to remember and one which provides special memories for years to come.
The Bede's Diploma
In an era where top grades alone aren't always enough to stand out, the Bede's Diploma enables pupils to actively track and evidence their personal development and engagement outside the core curriculum, ensuring that they leave Bede's with a set of skills which can be transferred into higher level study and the world of work.
Academic Academies
Academic support at Bede's goes well beyond traditional lessons with a programme of Academies which run over lunchtimes, in the evenings and across weekends. These sessions include additional support - particularly in the run up to public exams when a programme of revision sessions become the focus - but also masterclasses which go far beyond the curriculum to topics often chosen by the students themselves.
