Pastoral Care

Bede’s has long been recognised for the quality of its pastoral care and this will equally underpin the programme at the Upper School in Eastbourne-it is the foundation of everything we do.  

Our Eastbourne campus offers a purposeful, close-knit environment where every student is truly seen and celebrated. We specialise in recognizing the "quiet success" in every child, ensuring that those who might feel overlooked in larger schools instead find the confidence to find their voice and reach their full potential. This personalised scale allows our staff to build genuine relationships, providing swift, empathetic support that prioritises emotional well-being alongside academic growth.

Extending the strong parent-school partnership approach which has long been part of the Prep School’s identity, through to the Upper School will be a core facet of the pastoral approach.  For those pupils remaining at Eastbourne from the Prep School, this nurturing approach will continue seamlessly through the senior years without the step change required by a change of setting and environment. Pupils joining the Upper School from Year 7 upwards will benefit from a strong induction and orientation programme led by their form tutor.
